TRIO-US & UCLA Annual Research Conference

Every year TRIO-US hosts an educational research conference located at UCLA’s Lake Arrowhead Lodge: Conference Center & Family Resort.   At this meeting, TRIO-US Network investigators, site staff, TRIO-US administrative staff, sponsor partners, and UCLA academic faculty come together to discuss the state of the science.  The meeting lasts 2 ½ days and offers the opportunity for clinicians, researchers, research staff, and industry partners to hear about the new research coming out of the Translational Oncology Research Laboratories (TORL), new clinical research collaborations, and novel therapies form our industry partners. In addition, it allows an exchange of information between colleagues about clinical trial challenges, areas of interest, patient needs, and upcoming projects.

Over the course of the meeting, academic faculty present on their specialty and discuss the interesting projects they are working on in the laboratory.  They review the science from the previous year and discuss new opportunities for the TRIO-US investigators to partner.  In addition to didactic meetings, there are open forums for discussions, social events for interpersonal engagement and fun.

Every year for the past 28 years, TRIO-US has hosted this event.  Beginning in 2021 we transitioned the event to a hybrid format to allow attendees to attend in-person or remotely and bring together colleagues committed and interested in moving cancer research forward.  This allows us the opportunity to ensure TRIO-US is offering cutting edge research to the community of investigators and patients it serves.

2024 - Research Conference

The 28th Annual Research Conference at Lake Arrowhead was held over the weekend of November 1-3, 2024, as a hybrid event.  This year, TRIO-US hosted 180 attendees in-person at the Conference Center along with offering virtual participation for our Network members and other attendees.

Below is a list of companies who supported the 2024 Research Conference.  Without their support the conference would not take place.

Presentations from the conference will be available here until Dec. 31, 2024.

Women in Oncology

In 2018, TRIO-US and UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center came together to create the Women in Oncology Initiative.  This program brings together individuals from all oncology-related career paths at all stages in their careers throughout the Los Angeles area.  Women in Oncology provides opportunities for educational seminars, mentorship programs, self-branding workshops, networking events, and other opportunities of connection with colleagues in the cancer field.

The Women of Oncology participants range from research faculty just starting out, clinicians building their practice, new advanced practice nurses or other allied professionals to well-seasoned, experienced, and expert researchers, clinicians, and scientists.  All these individuals are navigating oncology care, research, or practice and are interested in building their network, sharing their experiences, and mentoring.  While titled Women in Oncology, this organization is not exclusive to any gender and welcomes all individuals, regardless of how they identify.

Currently, the participants of the Women in Oncology events are from TRIO-US, UCLA, USC, Cedars-Sinai, City of Hope, Providence, Kaiser, Amgen, AstraZeneca, Novartis and many more.  The meeting schedule, topics and events are determined by feedback from the members and the Women in Oncology Steering Committee.

If you are interested in participating or sponsoring Women in Oncology, please contact Allison Muff (am@trio-us.org).
